Funeral service for Mr. Leopolia Martin, Jr., 65, of Auburn, AL will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Brown will officiate. Mr. Martin passed on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his home. He was a member of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. He celebrated his high school years with the 1970 class of J.F. Drake High School. Mr. Martin was honorably discharged from the US Army. During his working career, he was employed with West Point Stevens and Uniroyal Goodrich. He held membership with Early Star Masonic Lodge #395, serving as Chaplin; Royal Arch Masonic Lodge # 77A, serving as Treasurer; and Howell and Shumpert Commandery #12 serving as Treasurer. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Survivors: his wife, Marilyn Martin of Auburn, AL; three children, Kizzy (Tracy) Cannon, Sequanya Martin and Tamesha Martin all of Auburn, AL; two grandsons, Tracy Cannon, Jr. and Leopolia Martin Cannon; five brothers, Kenny (Kari) Jones and Silas Martin both of Auburn, AL, Kenneth Jackson, Donald Martin, and Lorenzo Jackson all of Syracuse, NY; six sisters, Mary (Willie) Brady, Darlene Durr and Larry Ann Martin all of Auburn, AL, Betty Ann Sherman, Tami (Charles) Davis and Jackie Brooks all of Syracuse, NY; stepmother, Stonie Martin of Syracuse, NY; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Mae Martin of Loachapoka, AL and Chandra Martin of Tuskegee, AL; four aunts, Essie Bee Singleton and Willie Bell Matthew both of Syracuse, NY, Linda (Willie) Saxton of Auburn, AL, and Mary Joe Wilson of Atlanta, GA; an uncle, Cecil Day of Auburn, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
